Rare Autographed Ricky Carmichael Oakley Poster by photographer David St Onge

POSTER 75X22.25 INCHES

Don’t miss this opportunity to own a RARE Iconic Ricky Carmichael Oakley Poster autographed by Ricky and photographer David St Onge.

Known as the most expensive photograph in motocross history, this photo was taken by David St Onge at the 1997 Pontiac Supercross. Amazingly this picture was shot from the stadium seats around the 17th row by David, an amatuer photographer who was attending his first Supercross race.

David took the 4X6 Kodak print to the next race in Charlotte and asked Ricky to sign it for him. Ricky instead asked David if he could keep the photo and David obliged. A few minutes later David was feeling remorse for not leaving his contact info with Ricky. He returned only to find Ricky had left. He gave his info to Ricky’s mechanic.

Long story short Ricky gave the photo to Johnny O’Mara from Oakley to make copies for him. From there everyone has Oakley loved the photo but didn’t know how to reach the photographer. Jim Jannard the founder of Oakley decided to run with it and beg for forgiveness if the photographer ever came forward. So the second half of 1997 the poster went into production. The photo was ultimately used for posters, Oakley’s website, the supercross program, and a billboard on the 405 freeway in Southern CA.  For the complete story check out the June issue of Racer X.

In addition to Ricky’s autograph, what makes this poster even more rare is, not only is it from David’s personal collection, it’s from the very small run of posters Oakley printed giving David photo credit.

In a message from David he wrote ““I brought this poster with me when I attended the NJ Supercross in April.  I got the opportunity to spend a little time with Ricky and talk about this crazy story and life in general.  Ricky is one of the most down to earth and genuine people you could meet.  He was eager to help out Road 2 Recovery by signing this poster so they could auction it off.  So, not only are you getting an extremely rare, autographed poster, you are donating to an organization that helps out injured riders of the sport we all love.”
